William Moon Information

Improve Your Vision Naturally Without Glasses, Contacts, or Surgery! Click Here To Find Out More...

Dr. William Moon was known for having created his own system for teaching the blind to read.

He was born in Horsmonden on December 18, 1818. Initially, he was just as healthy as anyone else. However, he eventually contracted scarlet fever, which rendered him blind in one eye and left the other with very faulty vision. He was left under the care of his grandparents after this (for reasons unknown), but his parents still played a large role in his upbringing.

He attended a school for sighted children, and always maintained that blind students should be allowed to learn alongside students with normal eyesight — a mindset that was more in line with modern perceptions of the blind and could have been seen as somewhat unusual at the time.

After he left school, he moved back in with his now-widowed mother, aiming to train for the non-conformist ministry. However, his goals were snatched away from him when he was completely blinded by the age of 21.

When people hear about writing for the blind, the most common thing that pops into their head is braille, which was developed by (and named after) Louis Braille, a blind man who was inspired to create his own writing system after learning about the night writing technique employed by soldiers.

However, Braille's system isn't the only one that continues to see modern use. Sure enough, it is a very efficient system for those who have been blind for most of their lives. However, some assert that it isn't quite as useful for people who lost their vision later on in life.

You can learn to Protect Your Eyesight but sometimes things happen that are out of your control. These people would have already learned the normal alphabet and would possibly have trouble adjusting to the system of raised dot patterns used in braille.

The William Moon technique was similar to Braille's, but it used characters that were more similar to the Latin alphabet instead of a symbolic arrangement of dots. In this way, the system could be considered more like the one used when Braille was being put through school; blind students were given three thick textbooks containing raised letters formed by a series of copper wires pressed against each page.

Each book was also full of material, making them very heavy. Braille's system was created specifically because this one was inefficient and cheap. Of course, being more similar to the standard alphabet is more or less where the similarity to the method that William Moon invented ends. Like Braille, Moon's system utilizes embossed paper rather than pieces of metal in order to raise the letters for use by the blind.

His method would lack the drawback of being too heavy for practicality. However, it still fell into obscurity, in part because it takes much longer to print out text using Moon's technique, resulting in fewer publications.

Still, many people today still use Moon's system. It's generally much easier to master than the more complicated nature of braille.

However, some people start with the William Moon system and then move onto braille once they feel they've gotten the hang of it.

Vision Exercise Information

Performing a Vision Exercise once or twice per day can drastically Improve Vision.

These days, a lot of people work in front of computers, and when they go home they sit in front of the TV for a few more hours. All of that time staring at one point in space can really do a lot to weaken your eyes and add a lot of tension to the areas around your eyes.

Taking a few minutes to look away from the screen every now and then can Protect Your Eyesight for the future as well as reverse any existing eye conditions you may already have.

Eye Care Exercises can be used for a myriad of conditions, and even though they shouldn't replace regular checkups with an eye doctor, they can help strengthen your eyes and restore Loss of Vision in some circumstances.

If you have any of the following eye conditions, you can benefit from Eyesight Exercises:

Vision exercise has been described as yoga for the eyes. It's relaxing, strengthening, and can sort out multiple medical problems for which most people usually take medication or use corrective lenses.

The following are a few Eye Exercises that you can use on a daily basis, side effect free!

These first exercises will help improve your visual concentration, or the length of time that you can hold your eyes on one spot without breaking concentration.

Look down the bridge of your nose and focus both of your eyes on the tip. Look at it for as long as you can without blinking, and then close your eyes and relax for a minute or two. Repeat this vision exercise several times per day for best results.

Keep your head looking straight ahead and turn your eyes so that they are focusing on your left shoulder. Hold the gaze for as long as possible and then close your eyes, relaxing your eye muscles. Open them again and do the same thing with your right shoulder.

When you are finished with these eye exercises, rest them for a few minutes by placing the palms of your hands over your eyes with your fingers touching your forehead.

To practice your vision memory, try either sitting or lying down comfortably and focus on one object in front of you. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, all while continuing to imagine that object in as much detail as possible.

Open your eyes, get your bearings on the object, and then close them again, continuing to “see” the object. This will help you balance out your imagination with your visual focus, allowing you to retain better vision memory.

Try to perform one or several of these exercises each day, and before long you will start to notice a real change. Doing a vision exercise is easy, safe, and effective.

Vision Test Information

Improve Your Vision Naturally Without Glasses, Contacts, or Surgery! Click Here To Find Out More...

Eye doctors to determine the visual acuity of a patient use a Vision Test.

They usually use something called a Snellen Chart, which is a board with rows of numbers that increasingly get smaller as they go down.

If you've ever been to get your eye's examined you probably used one. These tests can be conducted anywhere, even though they're normally done in the doctor's office.

Sometimes an eye doctor will pay special visits to elementary schools or middle schools to do Eyesight Testing of the children there.

If you already wear Prescription Glasses or Contacts, you will need to take them off before starting the Eyesight Test.

The ophthalmologist will then position you in a seated or standing position exactly 20 feet in front of the vision test chart. You start with both eyes open, and then cover one of your eyes with either your hand or a spoon provided by the doctor.

The doctor will ask you to read down the lines of numbers until they are too small for you to see. After you get to the point where you can't read any further, you will be asked to remove your hand from your eye and cover your other eye.

You complete the vision test one more time, allowing the doctor to get accurate readings for both of your eyes.

If you're being tested for glasses or to change your prescription strength, you will use a special machine that has multiple lenses of different strengths that can be slipped down over your eyes.

The ophthalmologist will ask you if number 1 or number 2 is better, and from there go on to a different strength until he finds the strength that allows you to see the best.

When you get the results back from your vision test, they'll be in a fraction, for example 20/20. Most people are familiar with those numbers, or the phrase “20 20 Vision,” but you might not know what they stand for.

The first number simply indicates the distance in feet that you are standing from the chart. It's usually standardized to 20 feet unless it's a special situation.

The second number is how far away an individual with normal eyesight could read the last line you read. Therefore, 20 20 Eyesight is normal vision, but that doesn't mean it's the best vision you could have.

If your doctor tells you that you have 20/40 vision, it means that your vision isn't quite as good as a normal person's. While you have to stand at 20 feet to read a line, a normal person could stand 40 feet away and read the same line.

Vision is usually varied between the eyes, and you may have 20 20 Eyesight in one eye and 20/40 vision in the other eye.

If you go the opposite direction, you may have 20/10 vision, which means that a normal person would have to stand 10 feet away to read something that you can read at 20 feet.

Always Protect Your Eyesight by seeing an Eye Care Professional or Eye Care Specialist for regular checkups.

Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery Information

Improve Your Vision Naturally Without Glasses, Contacts, or Surgery! Click Here To Find Out More...

If you're thinking about getting cosmetic eyelid surgery, it's vitally important to understand all the risks involved. Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a type of cosmetic surgery that seeks to correct sagging skin under and above the eyes. Skin like this is a common occurrence that happens with age, so it makes sense that people might want to get rid of it to rejuvenate their face and make them appear younger and healthier.

Despite the inherent surface benefits of getting cosmetic eyelid surgery, it's still a surgery and as such there are some risks and drawbacks that you might have to deal with. The first risk isn't really a health risk so much as the possibility that your expectations might not be met. A lot of people go into surgery with the belief that it's going to completely transform their face, but the truth is that cosmetic eyelid surgery actually corrects just a tiny portion of your face. It won't provide any dramatic results, but it will add a hint of tighter skin to the areas around the eyes.

Of course, there are plenty of physical risks as well. Infection is a concern when it comes to any type of surgery, and eyelid surgery is absolutely no different. A lot of people get infections because they don't take their antibiotics (which should be prescribed right after the surgery) for as long as the doctor tells them to.

In fact, it's important to follow all of the directives that your doctor gives you during and after your surgery if you want to be as safe as possible. The recovery time is especially important because it gives your eyelids a chance to heal, allowing the surgery to fully take effect. During your recovery time, you should plan to spend at least ten days out of action, sometimes even more. This means that you should plan to take work off. A lot of people who undergo cosmetic eyelid surgery don't have a schedule that allows them to take time off from work, and as a result they put their eyelids under constant stress and greatly delay the healing time.

Sleeping is a concern as well. If you sleep normally, with you're head at roughly the same height as your body or slightly elevated on one pillow, you run the risk of swelling and possibly bleeding. It's important to sleep with your head as elevated as possible to expedite the healing process. You can either stack three or four pillows underneath you or you could look into getting a foam wedge that's specifically used for situations like this.

If you're having trouble sleeping, or if you have a tendency to scratch at your face while you sleep, your doctor might give you a special facemask that will keep your eyes protected during the night. All of these precautions are put in place to protect your eyesight and allow your eyelids to recover from the surgery as fast as possible. It's important that you follow all of them correctly.

Vision Therapy Information

Improve Your Vision Naturally Without Glasses, Contacts, or Surgery! Click Here To Find Out More...

Vision Therapy is a treatment technique that is used to correct a lot of common Vision Problems in both children and the elderly.

Some of the issues that can be corrected with therapy are crossed eyes, Double Vision, Blurry Vision, Lazy Eye, and convergence insufficiency.

It mostly consists of a series of Eye Care Exercises that tone and strength the smooth muscle tissue around the eyes, helping them perform better and, in cases of patients with Double Vision, focus more easily.

Vision therapy can also be used for children with visual and special learning disabilities. Sometimes if a child has difficulty learning how to read he may in fact have a Vision Problem that affects his ability to actually read the words, not necessarily comprehend them.

Sometimes the eyes have difficulty tracking, such as following one single line of words across a page, and other times the eyes don't quite function as a team, focusing on different points on the page. The idea behind vision therapy has been around for almost 80 years, and was first seen being practiced in the 1930's.

Most of the time this type of therapy is used for children, but it has applications for adults as well. Aging brings about the slow deterioration of many of the eyes' core processes, and the Eyesight Exercises used in vision therapy can help you Protect Your Eyesight and shield it from age related damage.

In the case of children, a child has to be seen by a doctor before beginning his therapy course. He'll undergo a series of tests that help the doctor pinpoint the source of the visual problem, and from there the program can be more effectively tailored for that child specifically.

They'll test the child's visual perception, eye teaming, tracking, hand-eye coordination, and focusing, and from there they'll have a much better idea of how to proceed with treatment.

This form of therapy is becoming more and more prevalent as ophthalmologists begin to realize that glasses aren't always the solution in children. A lot of times it's a developmental issue that can be treated with the right amount of training – basically the eye didn't grow with sharp focus, and it needs to be trained to behave correctly.

Therapy for vision is nearly always done in-house under the watchful eye of trained physicians. The child will get to know the therapy staff before starting treatment so that he doesn't feel like he's with strangers. Children respond better to learning situations if they are more comfortable, and that's what most vision therapy centers shoot for.

Programs usually last somewhere between three and twelve months, where the child goes in twice a week for hour long sessions. If the problems don't seem to be getting better, the therapy can go on for even longer than 12 months, although this is rare.

Vision Theory can be used to treat adults as well, although it's a lot more common with children. Talk to your eye doctor about the possibility to see what he recommends.

Vision Disorders Information

Improve Your Vision Naturally Without Glasses, Contacts, or Surgery! Click Here To Find Out More...

Vision Disorders can be varied and caused by a number of different factors, and some of them may not even be directly related to your eyes.

There's a complex system at work inside your head that brings you vision, and it involves dozens of parts of the eye itself; the Optic Nerve, which is the cluster of nerves that deliver the light signals received by your eyes to the visual cortex of the brain; and the brain itself, which is responsible for interpreting those signals and “showing” you the picture that results.

To Protect Your Eyesight, you should schedule checkups with an Eye Care Professional or Eye Care Specialist at least once a year, eat a healthy diet full of leafy greens and colored Vegetables for Eye Health (highly concentrated sources of vitamin A and beta carotene), and possibly even take Vitamin A and Vitamin E Eye Supplements if you feel like your diet is lacking in either of those critical nutrients.

At the first sign of any of the following vision disorders, schedule an appointment with your Eye Care Professional or Eye Care Specialist.

As there are so many factors in vision, the issue may be serious.

What is Astigmatism Information

Improve Your Vision Naturally Without Glasses, Contacts, or Surgery! Click Here To Find Out More...

What Is Astigmatism? Despite astigmatism being fairly common among many adults and children, a huge population is completely unaware about it.

To first give you an idea about how common is common, roughly 1 in 6 American adults have astigmatism. It has been found that 2/3 of people who have Myopia also known as nearsightedness or short sightedness also have astigmatism.

Astigmatism In Children is close to 3 out of 10 kids anywhere between the ages of 5 to 17 have been found to have astigmatism.

Some Children are just simply born with Astigmatism, but as they are so young, they are sometimes not able to explain to their parents all the correct symptoms.

Many of these younger children who have an Eye Astigmatism do not get treated until much later in life when symptoms are almost unbearable. It is quite important for children to visit an ophthalmologist to help prevent any of the astigmatism symptoms from getting worse later in life and to remove any discomfort for them.

Adults should also visit an Eye Care Specialist or Eye Care Professional Such as a ophthalmologist when they are unable to see things clearly.

The big question remains, what is astigmatism? To answer this simply, astigmatism is where the Cornea is oddly shaped. Typically this oddity is shaped either like a football or the back of a spoon. Depending on the shape and if the eye views horizontal lines better than vertical lines or vice versa, it will greatly determine what treatment is best for your eyes.

To explain it even further, a normal cornea is smooth and round in nature; because the cornea is smooth this greatly helps light enter into the eye as one direct light source. When your eyes are able to see one direct source, it helps the eye processes objects and images properly. Basically, it gives you a focus point to process a clear and sharp image along with giving you depth and perspective.

Unfortunately for people who have astigmatism, they do not possess such a smooth and nicely round cornea. Because their cornea is uneven in nature, light is processed in multiple points and the eye is unable to focus on one light source.

When the eye tries to focus, it picks up tons of these rays of light and is unsure which is the 'true source'. It does the next best thing and projects several of these light sources for the brain to process and this is why you see an unclear and have Blurry Vision.

There is no known reason as to why people simply develop astigmatism and others do not. To help Protect Your Eyesight or to prevent your eyesight from worsening, you can go through various treatments like getting glasses, contacts, eye surgery, and even eating certain foods can help tremendously.

Foods that are highly rich in Vitamin A helps eyesight. Foods like spinach, liver, cod oil, sweet potatoes, carrots, and even eggs help the eyes. There are Other Important Foods For Eye Health.

Magnesium also helps Improve Vision and it might be beneficial for you to take some digestive enzymes to help increase the absorption of vitamin A and other materials.

Remember nothing beats a healthy diet with the right balance of Vitamins and Minerals when it comes to preventing an Eyesight Problem.
